Adobe
this morning launched a new desktop version of Adobe Express, a free-to-use suite of content creation tools, which now includes some of the generative artificial-intelligence features included in its Firefly collection of AI software.
Express includes video, photo, design and document tools. The software can be used for “creating stunning social video content, touching up images, importing, editing and decorating PDFs and laying out amazing designs, fast and easy,” Adobe (ticker: ADBE) company said in a press release.
The new version of Express includes both the text-to-image and text-effects tools included in Firefly that are safe for commercial use—Adobe’s image models are based on content that is either licensed for use or in the public domain. AI-based photo editing tools launched in Firefly and Photoshop aren’t included in this version of Express, but Adobe says that new photo tools for Express are under development.
The company said the new version of the software supports prompts in more than 100 languages. The updated Express includes a new “all-in-one” editor that allows the use of a single tool to create videos, images, PDFs, and animations. The updated Express also includes the ability to do “coediting” in real time with another person.
Adobe Senior VP Govind Balakrishnan said in an interview that Adobe also plans to launch new mobile versions of Express for iOS and Android phones.
