Upland Resources said gas was discovered in two previously unknown reservoirs in Brunei near its Block SK334 in Sarawak, Malaysia.
The oil-and-gas company said on Friday the discovery, which was communicated by the Petroleum Authority of Brunei Darussalam, significantly derisks future exploration and enhances the prospectivity of Block SK334 as the area has a similar geological context.
The group is evaluating the data from the wells, it said.
“The presence of previously unrecognised reservoirs and proof of gas migration and trapping in the adjacent Brunei block are key positive indicators of broader hydrocarbon prospectivity in the area,” Technical Director Andrew Hurst said.
